any ideas???? Guru, chime in if you can
« on: November 23, 2007, 10:07:00 PM »
I just sent in an order for a new bow (Kwyk Styk) and I have a handle that I would like to have matched by the bowyer. Here is the problem, the handle is on a one piece bow. Now the bow had a limb tip failure and is unshootable   :(  . I thought about cutting off the limbs and sending in the handle section to be matched, but.....I have always wanted to build a bow someday down the road and wanted to use this one as a reference. So with out hacking this bow into pieces, has anyone made a cast of a handle? How would I go about doing that? Any ideas???

Curt I know through trading some PM's with you you mentioned you did this before....any pointers?
.... maybe a good idea for a tutorial??? Hint HInt Hint.....

Brack      Ask the bowyer if he could possibly fix your tip while making your new one.Cut off just enopugh to ship cheap and easy.Maybe put limbs on your handle down the road as you bow project.Good luck Kip

Thanks Kip been down that road already. Sent it back to the bowyer and he did his best unfortunatly the bow decided to give it up. I love the grip on this and wanted to have my new bow (different model) with this grip. Trying to figure out how to go about making a cast that I can provide to have replicated.

Take it to a taxidermist, have him make a mold for you with the thumb rest size you want. Then send it out........
