Definitely makes sense to me. I've been very aware of the importance of finger pressure in my own shooting the last few years. It's changed a few times, but I found myself shooting this way a few weeks ago, and it's been working very well for me, consistently, when I do my part.
Deep hook with bottom two fingers ( a bit more on the middle finger) and the top finger resting, relaxed, on the arrow.
I think I came back to this partly, at least, because an injury has me shooting eight pounds lighter than I was.
I'm pretty sure Dan Toelke advocates string fingers in this way.
