Tuning question about 7595's
« on: April 08, 2015, 02:10:00 AM »
Aloha, just signed up to this forum. Seems like a great place   :)Anyway, I shoot a 50# @28 Bear Grizzly. My draw is 29.5"-29.75" shooting a 31.25" arrow. While bare shaft tuning, the only shafts I can get to fly straight are the 7595's (gold tip traditionals).
I shoot 200 gr up front for a total arrow weight of 543 gr. I started with the 3555's but they were so weak they were dangerous at 10 yds. Like scary nock left      The 5575's were better, but I had to go down to 125 gr. up front, which dropped the total weight well below the 10 gpp I'm aiming for. The 7595's leave the bow straight and hit the bale straight out to 26 yds, the farthest spot at my house range. Any weaker spine and you can fully see the arrow flying weak through the air. So... Am I missing something? How does everyone shoot 3555 and 5575 with 200 gr or more up front?  Aloha, Joe

Aloha Joe, welcome to the forum.

I note that another post said GT was going to stop making 7595 arrows, so you may be out of luck there too.  Although they're now making a 340 spine arrow, which might be about the same thing.

As to your question, at a 29+ draw length and 31+ arrow length, you're a little longer than most, which could explain why you need a stiffer arrow.  Also, I've heard that bows cut past center are more forgiving of spine differences than those cut just to center.  Don't know where your Grizzly fits in to this.  Certainly one would think that a 5575 should work, but bare shaft testing is the best judge, in my opinion.

BYW, this part of the forum is dedicated to shooting form questions, so in the future you might get better answers to your tuning questions in PowWow (or they might move this post over there).

Thanks for the response! Sorry didn't know where to ask, figured I had a 50/50 chance. My draw's pretty long so yeah I'll just go with it. Just making sure I wasn't missing something.... Aloha, Joe
