Grip repeatability
« on: April 14, 2015, 11:17:00 AM »
I have gained so much knowledge from this site it is unbelievable. I am now getting to full draw and hitting my double anchor at least 90% of the time. My shooting has changed dramatically. Now my grip of the bow needs to improve. I think a lot of it has to do with making sure I get to full draw and hit my anchor that I don't really pay much attention to my grip. When I do, I rotate my hand slightly outward and that seems like the best for me. If I don't I get a slight tap from the string on my forearm. My shooting doesn't suffer when I don't have perfect grip but over a long shooting session, my bow arm elbow does get sore.
Is there a little trick that some of you may do that would force a consistent grip each time or is this something I have to ingrain into my head?
Thanks again for all the help you have given me so far.
Bob

Bear,

I'd suggest that the bow grip is one of the MOST important parts of your setup and shot.  Not something to be an after thought.  It is the ONLY part of you that touches the bow before, during and after the shot! It really needs to be right.

I posted a recommended grip a while back on this thread:  http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=005763#000000

See if those pictures help.

Are you willing to give up what you are; to become what you could be?

Thanks moe. I looked at the pictures and I'll give that a try. Through other posts answered by you is how I got this far. Thank you so much

Always listen to Arne. I set my grip, rotate my bow elbow out, set my string hand, then raise my bow, etc.  I go through the exact same process and sequence every shot.
