Form video
« on: May 01, 2016, 12:58:00 PM »
For the last two-three months or so I have been having some elbow and tricep tenderness.  I have been going to a sports medicine doctor and laying off shooting a fair amount.  Really only shooting once a week or so.  I am posting a video to see if anyone can detect anything in my form that would cause this type of aggravation.  I know its not "tennis elbow" because I did at tennis elbow test with the sports med doc to see what motions caused irritation and pain.  And I do not grip the bow tightly or anything like that.  I cant really describe what I am feeling as pain but more of an uncomfortable stiff feeling and ache every now and then.  The tender area is on the backside of my elbow up my tricep a little bit.

There is the video link ^^^

Thanks,

Video doesn't help it makes you look 4 feet wide and 2 feet tall.  I presume you are talking about your bow arm since you mention your grip on the bow.

Be sure that you have not or are not locking your elbow.  It should be straight BUT NOT LOCKED!!  Entire bow arm should be as relaxed as possible. Just a little tension in the triceps to keep the elbow straight, BUT NOT LOCKED.

From what little I can see, you do seem to have a sharp "punch" at the target when you shoot.  Don't PUSH the bow towards the target, just point the bow hand at the target and let the entire arm feel like a solid brace between your shoulder and the bow grip.  Think that your bow arm is a solid 2X4 braced between your shoulder the the bow.

PS see if you can address the "wide screen/normal screen" width on your video.
