Proper grip
« on: July 08, 2016, 06:46:00 PM »
Can someone please explain the proper grip on a recurve, I see people with there hand open some with  index middle and thumb finger only on the grip, and some with all fingers wrapped around, I also see some with a position of there hand holding flat on a wall, advice would be great, thanks all.

Arne

Is the diagram the same for a longbow?  I shoot a BW PLX.

Thanks,

Yes, it is good for all bow/grip configurations.
I too have a PLX and many Hill style bows and recurves and even (gasp) compounds it works for ALL!

Thanks Arne.

I fine it harder to have a consistent grip with the longbow than with the recurve.  Your diagrams really help and provides a visual that will help me achieve and consistent grip.

Good Shooting,

Does any of this change from a high wrist style recurve?

Arne is a great teacher, but if you would like shooting with a high wrist grip, check out G. Fred Asbell's lessons/teaching. He teaches that method well.
