Reduce point on??
« on: December 04, 2016, 11:20:00 AM »
Question, I been a instinctive shooter

I've tried the fixed crawl like u have I can't get used to it.

I shot 3 under, middle finger corner of my mouth, mocked at 5/8.

I have experimented with moving my nock point up to 1" and still get good arrow flight but can't get my point on down to 25 yards.

I'm shooting 45lbs, at my draw 28". Gold tip kinetic 500 with 150 grain full length. They are 30" carbon to carbon, I am running the ballistic collars which are gold and shinny and make a great aiming device.

My question is, will a longer heavier arrow get my point on down and what will it do at 10,15,20 yards if it does.

I am thinking of going to a 32" shaft and up a spine or find a heavier gpi 500 spine.

What's ur take???

I would really like to be able to draw the bow put the tip just under the spot and be spot on out to 25 yards.

Is this possible?

It seems to me that it would be a lot easier just to tune the best flying arrow you can devise, and simply learn to shoot it. It may be possible to find a combo that will specifically give a point on strike at 25 yards, but I wonder if that will really increase hunting effectiveness at unknown distances and unusual body positions. But if you do find it, please be sure to let us know.

Watched it seems maybe what I want to do is impossible, would like to be able to just put the tip on the spot and shot and be in the kill zone from 0-25.

Not really trying to aim off the deer or turkey by several inches.

Everyone is built differently and facial structure has a lot to do with your gaps as it relates to anchors.  My gap is 4" at 10 yd, 7" at 15, 5 at 20, and on at 25.  This lets me put point on bottom of deers chest ( heart) and still be in kill.  From 10- 20 I only have a 3" variance so sight picture looks the same.  I did this by changing from split to 3under, use full length arrows, and---here's what really helped, orienting cock feather placement on shaft to touch to my nose as the third anchor.  I believe it tips my face down slightly and gets nock closer to my eye.  My other anchor points are index finger under cheekbone and c og thumb joint under jaw.  You could also play around w fixed crawl.  Good luck.

What you just described is string walking. Do some research on it. I string walk and it allows me to put the tip of my arrow on the kill from about 15 yards out to 45 yards. I just count down stitches, or up stitches, to the correct yardage, hold my tip on the spot and shoot the shot.

I am gonna guess that several things might help you, to different degrees.  First, get your anchor point as high up near your "sighting" eye as possible.  That might mean anchoring on your cheek bone ( or, just going to a crawl or string walk that moves the arrow up there in a different way).

Second is to go to much lighter arrows, gaining much more ( not just a little) speed and less trajectory at realistic ranges.

Third might be an extended arrow.  The last is probably gonna work the least.
