Can't shoot for 2 weeks...
« on: February 01, 2017, 03:19:00 AM »
Started developing really bad wrist pain while working on the car this weekend. Did not think much of it but the last few nights I have awoke to severe pain and a locked up wrist. I went to DR this am and he put me on steroids and says have developed severe tendonitis.... I cant put any pressure on my wrist for 2 weeks and then he said try it out. Obviously, I'm nervous about shooting... Anyone deal with this?

I have it in both elbows but not the wrist. Steroids helped, but rest is the only thing that really calmed it down. Periodically, it will flare up, meaning a necessary layoff. One word of advice - when it begins to flare up again, don't wait till the pain becomes severe before you rest it. Good luck. If you take care of it, it is manageable.

Thanks for advice! Let's just hope it doesn't flare up right when a big buck walks out!

You mean you're just going to have to put that new Bear on the wall and look at it?  What torture.  If it gets too bad, send it down here and I'll shoot it for you for a while!

Jessebeaux, I guarantee if the big buck walks out, the adrenaline will definitely override the discomfort.

Jesse, I experienced a bout of tendonitis in my right elbow (no doubt from being over-bowed plus excessive practice)and it took a three month layoff to heal. My best advice is DON'T RUSH IT! If you try to get back to shooting too soon you can turn a temporary issue into a chronic injury.
