New recurve

Getting my first recurve soon.  Not sure about using a glove or a tab?  Don't know much about shooting a recurve but have been shooting a compound for past 4 years. The bow will be a Jeffery recurve 50# @28.

My advice is to try both and you decide.

Whichever you get, just be sure the fit is snug.  A glove probably should start out feeling a little too tight, and work into snug over several uses.  Fingers should reach the ends of the gloves, with no loose material at the ends.  Tabs should not be wider than the width of your three drawing fingers, and only long enough to reach about halfway down the pads of your last finger joints, so that your fingertips extend beyond the end of the tab when your fingers are extended.

My observation is that tab/glove preference runs about 50/50, with maybe a slight preference for gloves.  However, once people decide which they like better, they don't tend to switch back and forth much.

I love a tab, especially for hunting as it doesn’t get all sweaty on hot days, and in the winter time I can wear a glove to keep my hand warm and still use my tab.

I also like that if I need dexterity wth my finger to do something, I just flip the tab over the back of my hand until I’m done, then with a quick flip I’m ready to shoot again.

But for every guy like me, there is a guy who a glove works better for him.

I used a tab 25+ years ago when I shot compounds but always thought I'd like to try a glove.  Now, shooting recurves & homemade bows, I use a glove but keep thinking about tabs again.  Then there's the whole thumb ring thing...

I keep going back to the glove because I don't want to mess around with trimming up a tab so my lips quit getting whacked.
