Pre-Cooked meals

One of the things I like to do is to take meals to camp that are already prepared.  This is nice if the days are long with very early  getups and late trackings for recovery on occasion.  I'll take a couple meals like spagetti where all you have to do is heat the sauce, make the noodles, and throw a salad together.  After a 15-16 hour day all I want to do is get a meal, take a bath if I can, and hit the rack.  4-5 AM comes too quick the next morning and an hour or more to prep and cook a meal is too long sometimes.  This method cuts the time in half or less most of the time.

There are a number of meals that are very good predone that make camp life a bit easier for the cook in the late evening.

When we go to CO for elk we usually make a big batch or two of something like beef stew or hamburger vegetable and can it in quart jars.

When we get back to camp at the end of the day we fire up the stove and put 3 or 4 jars in a stock pot with enough water to come up to the shoulder of the jar and bring it all to a boil for 10 to 15 minutes.  Take the lids off the stew and it's hot, ready to serve so be careful.  The bonus is that you now have hot dishwater to clean up when you are done.

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.
