Super easy Boy Scout dutch oven peach cobbler

This will be the easiest cobbler you ever made and tasty as well.

All you need are:

1 12" dutch oven
1 box yellow cake mix
1 16oz can of peaches in heavy syrup
1 12oz can of 7up or Sprite

Line oven with aluminum foil (makes for super easy clean up!)

Pour fruit into oven.

Pour dry cake mix fairly evenly over fruit. No mixing!

Slowly pour entire soda over cake mix. No stirring, just kinda spread it around over cake mix as you pour!

I like to use charcoal when cooking with dutch ovens as it makes it a LOT easier to adjust heat. In this case put 13 briquets under the bottom, and 15 on the top. That will give you right at 375 degrees.

Bake for 20-25 minutes and enjoy!

If that aint good, I'll eat my Scoutmaster's Smokey the Bear hat!
All the best to you,

Tracy McQueen

Ah yes, the campfire cobler...tasty indeed.  That brings back some memories.  I don't remember using the soda though.

Yes, that is really good about 10:30 P.M., sitting around the fire relaxed. What does the soda do for it? We have never used that.

Last January at our Klonike Derby, my son and another scout decided to make some. It was a challenge for them though. It was -15 degrees F. that night so all ingredients had to first be thawed by the fire. We were all sitting close to the fire that night...and the hot cobbler when done really hit the spot.

The soda gives the cake mix the moisture it needs as well as adding the additional flavor and sweetness that the boys really like.

Hhop - Always glad to run into another Scouter
