Deviled Eggs
« on: December 14, 2007, 06:47:00 PM »
Deviled eggs are usually served around the holidays. I have to say, my Mom's recipe always tastes the best. Thought I would share:

Deviled Eggs

6 Eggs

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon dry mustard

1/4 teaspoon pepper

3 Tablespoons mayonnaise

1 Tablespoon minced green onion

1 teaspoon minced sweet pickle

paprika

Boil the eggs until done. Remove the shells and cut the eggs in half (lengthwise).

Remove the cooked yolks and mash with a fork in a bowl.

Mince the sweet pickle and green onion very fine. Mix with the egg and other ingredients in the bowl. (Except the paprika).

Stuff the egg whites with the mixture. Sprinkle a dash of paprika on top of each egg.

find a German deli with Hungarian paprika, and substitute that for our regular paprika, and it will really add some kick to it!

I like to mix in some crisp bacon with mine!
I will be adding the horseradish next!

Try topping them with lumpfish caviar- my local Kroger carries it, and it's not very expensive. Rinse it good to get rid of the salt, and put a liberal dose on top of each half. Adds a unique look and the flavors marry very well!

  You folks add a new meaning to high protein.  As much as I do not like egg salad I can sit and eat more than my share of deviled eggs.
I will definately be trying some of your suggestions.
Thanks for the ideas   :clapper:
