I have the ulfrotte 200's and 600's, now called woolpower. I purchased mine from Three rivers. Don't go North without them ! They are without a doubt the best I have ever used. Here is the link to the woolpower site, worthwhile reading.http://www.woolpower.us/

Ibex makes some good merino wool clothing, not quite as heavy as Ufrotte's but good stuff none the less.

NOTHING out there compares to Filson merino wool long johns and heavy weight woolens- sweaters, vests, bibs and coats.

While most of the competition is busy trying to re-invent wool by "impregnating" it with teflon or "bonding" it to a liner (say WHAT???) Filson has been manufacturing many of their outdoor wool garments the same way for almost 100 years. And that's good enough for me.

I wish you could find a merino woll union suit. I had a wool union suit as a kid and I could play in -30 degree temps with joy.3 Rivers doesn't sell any sizes but L and XL and I know woolpower Ulfrottes comes in extended sizes for the big guys like me but I can't find a source for it.

I bought some wool thermals for my brother-in-law.

Minus33.com  He swears by them, and is really impressed at the warmth and comfort.  Not cheap, though!

I'm a big fan of Smartwool...socks, liner socks, long underwear, liner gloves, beanies...
I haven't tried the others mentioned, but may well as I'm a big fan of staying warm also.

Terry very interesting comments. I was beleiving that Filson was the best out there. From some of the comments about them.

That woolpower has a good website. I have just started wearing wool this year. So far i am happy. I where a mid layer of Malone wool from woolrich and a outer layer of Browning highlander wool.

Danny...Filson is a good company, they make good stuff.  I don't care for there thermals at all, and feel they are not the best in warmth and comfort.  I also don't care for the fit of some of their garments.  I have a couple of there sweaters I wear under my other wool outerwear, and the sweathers are really nice.

Filson just aint the only company in the Top Drawer is all I am saying.....they share that market with a few others now that have been inovative, and have improved....and have products that will even out perform some of Filson's products.

I've also used the Smartwool socks and found them to be a very good product. What's nice about the Smartwool sock is that you can wear them year 'round without your feet itching. My wife and I have worn Smartwool while hiking and based on my experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Perhaps the Smartwool undergarments are just as nice. Worth looking into...
