Ben, seems lke 'grits' is a state of mind more than a food.   :D   Lots of mystery to it but from the vague description on Ron's old post sounds like some sort of porridge?! Made from corn/maize.. hey that sounds like mielie pap! Now we're talking! Mieliepap, phuthu, phosho, papa, sadza -the stuff that fuels Southern Africa, it's also a state of mind!!You have to eat some to know it. That's my take on 'grits'. Any South Africans or Zimbos who have had grits want to comment?

It's just "Southern Tofu"!!

Takes on whatever flavor you want to put it with or over or on.

I think it's best left alone, period, cause it doesn't even make a decent rat bait....lol

Last year a friend of mine got me back into squirrel hunting after he showed me a better way to skin them and my neighbor showed me a better way to cook them. I can't wait for the season to start.  Man, those pictures are making my mouth water!!

Ron,
I wish you lived closer. We could go to Mudd's house & eat tree rats & grits. All the time whoopin' up on Mudd for not eatin' any. I'll have to say tho, that Thursday,Mudd made me the best pot of whole bean coffee ever! I don't guess he's all bad.
God Bless
