Here's last weekends supper as proudly provided by my three kids.
If ya can't tell what it is... here's a hint.
The littlest on the left is my boy Jacob, next to him is Emmett and the girl with the black hair is Lindsey. The other people I don't know and were just there. The MO conservation dept was putting on a "froggin' clinic" and I signed up the kids. They had a blast. Lindsey got 8 (that's the limit), Emmett got 6 and Jacob didn't get any but Lindsey gave him two of hers so he could carry them around. He still had fun, he was just a little afraid to go out in the reeds and water in the dark. He'll get over that in time like the others did. They really got into it and were wading nearly chest deep in the dark but it worked. Of the other dozen or so people who were there only two frogs were caught. Guess it's paid to raise the kids to not be afraid of getting wet or dirty in the woods eh?
Did I mention they were FRESH? I got home and there were three walmart bags in the sink "moving"
Shortly after that, MOST of the movement had stopped. But not all. Funny thing was, if you sprinkle a little salt on frog legs, they start to twitch.
Some were pretty nice sized.
I'd have liked to use a little buttermilk but didn't have any so I used a half cup of regular milk and a well beaten egg with a good splash of hot sauce to soak 'em a little while. The other plate has corn meal, onion powder, garlic powder cajun spice and salt.
We also did up some channel cat caught about two days prior out of Clinton lake in KS. Cut into nuggets and soaked/breaded right along with the frog legs. These frog legs were the smallest of the batch. I didn't get a picture of the big ones done because the kids were practically taking them off the serving plate on the way to the table. They were GOOOOOD!
