Need some jerky help
« on: September 10, 2014, 07:39:00 AM »
Hey guys, I need some new jerky ideas.  For some reason, regardless of the recipe I use, my jerky always tastes the same.  It's decent, but I would like some more flavorful ideas.  My equipment is limited to a grinder and a dehydrator.  I try a lot of recipes that look promising, but always seem bland.  Thanks

The last batch I made I put wild turkey in the marinade. It was awesome.

I slice the steaks in the hams thin with a fillet knife. Then marinate in a combo of worchestishire, soy sauce, liquid smoke, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, Cajun seasoning, and what ever else I may have laying around. I've found it's also good to dice up some fresh onion very fine and put it in with the mixture. I let it marinate for at least 12 hours...usually closer to 24.

My wife and my little girl eat it up just as quick as I pull it off the dehydrator.
