Padding to protect limbs?
«
on:

I just got a used Check-Mate Falcon bow for my first recurve and there is padding on the limbs that covers the string gooves. Can this be removed or does it make it more quiet? I tried searching posts for this subject but could not find it. Thanks for the info!

Thanks. Is this common practice to do? I don't see it being done very much in pictures.

Yes it is common. On my Chek Mate Kings Pawn, I use Padded Mole Skin which when new (the mole skin that it) really quiets things down.

I serve heavy wool yarn around the ends of the string. Looks and works better in my opinion.

Thanks for the help! It had the wool on the ends of he string but I took it off. It did not seem to make a difference. Maybe I'll try taking the pad off and putting the wool back on. I don't like the looks of the pad but if that works the best, I will use it.

the other thing you can look at is BowHush in the sponsors list. I use the bow hush and hushpuppies on my red wing. Good Luck.

Is there a phone number for contacting the folks at Bow Hush? I placed an order through paypal on November 18th and nothing so far. I'm getting kinda itchy to try the recurve but it sounds like thunder compared to my longbow.
