How old is this 8 pointer?
« on: November 27, 2007, 10:27:00 PM »
I was out doing photo ops on a friends place and we saw this buck.  Hes going to begin managing his place and we were wondering how old he was.

Sorry about the pic quality.

Re-size the pix and re-post...no bigger than 640 wide   thanx

3 is my best guess, too.  He still has that step from his neck to his chest.  Good looking deer for a 3 yr old.  Give him another couple years and he'll be something special.

i'm going to guess 2.5 to 3.his back is still awful straight and his belly hasen't dropped much yet.but just a geuss.now as far as deer management i get a kick out of that.unless you have a large fenced in ranch there is no such thing as deer management.i've got 2 buddies who have ground here in s. indiana river bottoms about 6 miles apart.they have both seen 2 different bucks on each property in 2 weeks and we seen 1 of them about 3 miles to the north spotlighting.now how are you going to manage that.deer have documented to roam more than 100 miles in there lifes so unless you got LOTS of land just shoot what you want and let walk what you don't.there's no guarentee the same deer will be on you tomorrow.maybe your neighbors farm or across a river.defiantely no gaurentee from one year to next.deer will managew themselves, humans will have to stick with baseball.
