Heavy selfbow and dangerous game
« on: May 04, 2006, 04:27:00 PM »
Hi All,

I just finished and started shooting my first selfbow a few weeks ago, it is a boardbow over 75# at my draw.

I now want to make n osage selfbow in the 75 to 80# range.
Is anyone here hunting Africa or Oz with a selfbow?

regards,
F-Manny

F-Manny,
Good Afternoon! I believe that Paul Brunner aka Too Short has taken game in Africa with one of his selfbows. God Bless, T

Hi T,

Thank you for the info, I hope that Too Short will kick in with his Dark Continent stories!

F-Manny,

I have used self bows but only on game up to the size of pigs.

A good mate of mine, Col Graham - the maker of Ribteks - uses a self bow at times. Last year on our buff hunt he used a 92# Osage longbow that he made. If you go to his web site there is a photo or two.

F-Manny,

I talked with Gary Davis maker of Rattlestick selfbows the other day and he will be hunting plains game in Africa next month.
