Sandpaper Sharpening...

For those of you who use or have used sandpaper to sharpen 3-blade heads, do you push the head into the sandpaper like Charlie Lamb does with a file in his Woodsman sharpening video, or do you use a sideways motion when sharpening?

Pull it backwards like the file method.
