Your hunt is getting close Wiley Coyote!!! You should have a blast regardless of which camp you are hunting out of. And if you have never met Ron before, don`t let him fool you…….he is a REALLY good guy.

Thanks Smeans……..   :)

I video`d that hunt with a Sony HVR-Z5U topped off with a RODE NTG-3 shotgun mic and Sennheiser wireless mics. I used a Manfrotto 523 Pro remote handle to run the camera. I cannot remember if I was using a SuperArm tree arm for that hunt or a Rock Steady arm?

Unfortunately, there will be no spring bear hunting for me this year, so I am hoping to see some stories and pictures on here pretty soon from other hunters.   :clapper:

I might have some similar video of the bear I shot on May 28 in Northern Alberta had my "cameraman" been just a bit more reliable. When I asked him if he had got the shot on camera he replied that he did not video small bears. Translated into English that meant "I ran the battery dead on my I-phone texting with my girlfriend". He did make up for it by skinning my bear really quickly as the daylight was fading (which is why I have no pictures) and the mosquitoes were getting out of control (no thermacell).

Even more impressive might have been the footage of the first bear that came in and finally walked over to the decoy grease jug at about 10 yards. That one bit at the jug a couple of times before grabbing the jug firmly and quickly running off with it.

My bear was a dry sow that would have weighed about 150 pounds. I have always felt that bears that size would be two or maybe three years old. The local game warden told me about a healthy bear she shot that would not have weighed more than a hundred pounds and when she sent a tooth in for aging the bear turned out to be a five year old.

I too was working for an outfitter, but unlike you I had one night to hunt. The boss and I both were able to go out the same night and we agreed to shoot any legal bear that came along. He shot his spot and stock (he will not shoot his money bears) at a range of about 8 yards with a compound.

Overall we had a pretty successful hunt with 20 hunters shooting 26 bears. I was the only one who shot mine with a stick bow. One hunter arrowed a very nice cinnamon phase bear that measured well over 20 inches initially. The rest were shot with both compounds and guns.

I might have shot mine with my 64 Kodiak, but I ran short of money on the way there and ended up selling it. Do not feel sorry for me though as I used a gorgeous RER static recurve that I recently traded for.

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42
