Sounds are a pretty good attractant that i have used over the years. here in b.c. we cannot use bait or scents, so i started looking into to calling them in. i've found that in late spring, a fawn bleat works best and in the fall, sometimes the bleat still calls them, but mostly a screeching prey call works best. you'll call in other predators as well so be at the ready for them.

early june this year, i called in several bear(no shots or too little for the freezer), too many yotes, couple bobs, and 2 cougars, using a call i got from J.Holden here. grunt tube that i tuned for the fawn bleat.

I don't hunt black bear. But Do a fair amount of trapping and I had to quit using fish oil at my coon sets cause I couldn't keep the bear out of them.
