Who was Stemmler - any value to collectors?

I am not a collector and don't know much about this bow. I bought it from a guy I work with at NASA.  He sold me this longbow and a York recurve for $50.  I wanted the recurve for my son to use in about a year.
I've heard the name Stemmler, but don't know anything about the company.  The imprint on the back of the bow, which looks to be lemonwood reads, "L.E. Stemmler - Queens, LI, NY". The belly is some type of darker wood.  I will try to attach a couple of pics.  I don't think I'd shoot it, but was wondering if it would be of value to a collector?

The belly appears to be purple heart.
Stemmler is the oldest name in archery.
