S Proline Condor recurve?
« on: December 15, 2005, 03:26:00 AM »
Picked up an old recurve bow. The model is the "Condor" and the maker is "S" "proline". The "S" is black in a white box, the proline split w a capital block letters for the PRO and script for the LINE.

The logo looks and sounds familiar to me, I'm thinking mid 60s to 70s. The bow has a look that reminds me of the bows Shakespeare made (wide limbs, almost 2 inches, broad tips, lots of deflex...)

Like the look and it feels very good in the hand (med pistol grip w nice thumbrest). Riser looks like black phenolic w bubinga and shedua maybe, black glass. Points of the riser/face side toward the shooter.

Anybody remember anything about this maker, the line?

Shakespeare bought Proline just after they brought Root. Root was a part owner of proline.
After Shakespeare got the line the "S" was added to the logo on the bows. There were three recurves other then the Golden Eagle in the Pro line at first, but I think I saw a take=down that was made later, maybe not.
