Here's a neck knife and skinner that Jeremy made for me. The handles are Osage and Purpleheart. The finish on the blades is some special process I'm sure all you knife makers know about.  As for me, I just know they are very pleasing to the eye and useful!

Robtattoo, that blade is incredible.   I can't wait to see the finished project.

Frank, that top knife is lovely! Just everything you need in a good hunting knife, with a stunning handle. What's the wood, by the way?

Cat, I got your PM, thanks. How should I go about with the heat treating?
I've got a few old lawn mower blades out in the garage, and I just finished drawing up a few designs.

here are a few of the knives that my dad makes for the knifemakers guild show, we sold all of these at the last show, he is still teaching me how to make them, but I do help in making the sheaths

Another one of mine. Many thanks to Kenny Yoder for the Osage!

Ok. it's started. I have the shape cut out and lost a shirt tail in the process.
Was hitting it pretty good with the angle grinder when I looked down and saw some smoke and flames coming from my shirt!  :scared:

After putting out the fire I finished cutting it out then over to the grinding wheel to smooth out some of the edges.

Tried not to get it too hot while cutting it out, now I just have to figure out the heat treating.

By the way, I've decided to go with a skinner, it's about 6" long so far, and I haven't even figured out what kind of wood to use for the handle. I'm starting to feel like I might be a little impulsive.

Anyway, I'll let you know how things turn out.
