Very Vintage Howard Hill "Mountain Man" Longbow
« on: June 01, 2006, 11:41:00 PM »
Hi...I'm new and just joined this forum.  I'm on Cloud 9 right now!!! Go here and see why:   http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7245232430&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

My first bow (25 years ago) was a used Bear Tigercat in excellent shape that I still have and shoot on and off.  I bought a Hoyt MagnaTec Compound a few years ago and wound up preferring the recurve.  Funny it was just stolen a few days ago from my garage (freakin townhome living) but aside from the anger of being violated, I think I would have been more remorseful if I had lost my Tigercat which, in my excitement to go shooting, I accidentally forgot to double check my garage door as I grabbed it to go shooting.  It went down,..then up. 24 hours later....

A shameful admission here...I just discovered WHO Howard Hill was a few weeks ago. I've been drooling over their website and came across this bow on Ebay.  I cant believe I just stole it for $250.   It's been out of production for probably decades.  Does anyone know anything about this bow?  Is it safe to shoot?  I don't  want to damage it but I would like to shoot it.

I love vintage tackle but don't know enough to make that call.  I'll take it to a bow shop for inspection as well once I get it.  Anyone have any recommendations for the ths San Jose/San Francisco area?

Anyway, I'm on a high so sorry about the long post.  Any feedback on this bow would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Jeff

I had been watching that one. It is sweet! But a little too heavy for me. Congrats! Now you have to join Doc Wightman's HH e-mail group.

If it looks good I would not hesitate to shoot it. My Big Five is over 19 years old and it shoots like new.
