United States Archery Co.

Out of Danbury, Conn. Anybody have any information on this company? When were they in business, did they become another archery co.,were they a different co. before they were USAC? I'm asking because my wife came home with a pretty nice 64" laminated Hickory and glass recurve with this companies name and "CALIFORNIAN", over an outline of the state of California, on it. I've been unable to find any info on them. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Don't know too much about USAC, but to the best of my knowledge, it was the only name the company ever went by.  Their line of bows was named after different states.  You don't see too many of them, but as I recal, they were decent bows for the money, decent shooters, but not nearly as populars as the Bears, Pearsons, Howatts, etc.  They weremore in line with th Stottler, Stemmler, and such bows.  Just a little lesser bows than say say Shakespeare.  Best I can offer , and to the best of my knowledge.  Someone with better knowledge might dispute my opinion and I will defer to them.

Thanks Jack. Doesn't seem to be much information available about USAC anywhere.I agree with the Stottler/Stemmler similarities and it's pretty close to the Shakespear Sierra I've got,(flat shelf, handle shape), only bigger. Just curious about if they had morphed from or into any of the more well known makers.Seen a couple of them on eBay but no info or history on the company.
