Savora Broashead?
« on: January 18, 2008, 11:51:00 PM »
First off let me say that, not being a broad head collector, I really don't know much about older heads so forgive me if this is a amateurish question.

I was going through some of my step-fathers things and found a couple of broad heads that must be at least 15+ years old (I didn't know him to have ever bow hunted). One of the two had a pair of bleeders with it.  One of the bleeders (the one thats not broken) has "Savora" written on it.  Does anyone have any information or history about these heads?

Now this my be the stupid part of my question.  I've never really messed with bleeders, but for the life of me I can't figure out how you would go about attaching these bleeders.  Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks
-Matt

Matt,
I can show you a pic of Savoras 'Super S' broadheads with blades attached. They were set in place over the grove with the O-ring mentioned by bowdoc and then pushed forward to lock them down. Their ferrule, including the tip, was an one piece all alum.

Yours are blued carbon steel (back) and were first made in 1975 I think. Later (1980) replaced by stainless (front).

Thank for the info.  Don't know why those bleeders where wrapped up with the Bear head but it makes sense.

Their were two different bleeder blades one was the swept wing and the other was the standard. The swept had angle at the back of the blade and the standard was straight. The biggest complaint about these heads was the tip, the ferrule was one pc. alm. and soft. Hunters had alot of deflection, arrow would slide and cut just the hair off a deer. Happened alot shooting from a tree stand on an angle. The swept wing was light also only 117 grains. These heads were used back in the early 70's.  Shane
