I need info on 56" grizzly

Hello,i picked up a 56" grizzly.ser#8r11896 45#.Does anyone know the likely year of production?string length?How many years did they make a 56"?Thanks

The 56" Grizzly was only made in 69 and 70 to my knowledge. But, your serial number leads me to believe it a 68. Maybe its a 69 model made in late 68. The 69 was a solid riser while the 70 had an accent stripe. String length should be 52", braced around 8". I noticed a quite a few 69 and 70 grizzlys on the auction site recently. Have fun with it, my 56" grizzlys seem faster than the 58's I have.

The 56" Grizzly was made in 68,69,70. The 68 was Tigerwood or Goncalo Alves. Some of them are very stunning. The 69 was Shedua, and the 70 had a dividing line down the middle of the riser. As with all Bear bows, there are exceptions, but thats the skinny on the 56" Grizzly. CKruse

thanks guys.i'm guessing i have a 68 then.There's no line in it and the ser# starts with 8.Make sense??if it was easier to post a picture i would.

1968 Any of the serial numbers that start with a number were from that year,, All the 60's models started with a number,,Sounds like a great bow,,take good care of it,,J

Whitebuffalo, that rule only applies from 1965-1969. Before that, you just have to know what you are looking at. From 1970 forward the letter codes correlate with certain years, but I don't have a reference for those. CKruse

i received the bow today.Alittle disappointing.The upper limb has about 1/4" twist in it when unstrung.The upper limb also has a bunch of what looks like air bubbles in the glass finish from just below the tip to about 6" down the limb.the limbs seem to be very solid with no seperation.The lower limb is near perfect.
 **ANYONE looking for a project?**i 'd like some input as to if this bow can be made shootable.Thanks**

Do the "bubbles" look like horizontal stretch marks? If so, they may not be bubbles. That's a typical indication of overheating of the glass, possibly by someone trying to straighten the limb before you got it. I know, I’ve done it

I saw it. It's not from overheating. Just age spots in the finish common to some of the older Bear bows. Assuming it's not paint splatter, I don't know what causes it but maybe our more knowledgeable experts can explain the chemistry of it.
