Howard Hill pictures

I was given two pictures of Howard Hill. One is an autographed pic of him shooting his longbow that he personalized and signed for one of his family, probably about early 50's vnitage. The second one is a picture of Howard Hill and his crew with trucks and cameras etc heading over to Africa. trucks look like early 50's vintage. The photos are in nice shape with no tears etc. They do have a few creases but nothing major. One peson says I should have them "restored" another says just frame them and hang them. I don't see benefit in "restoring them."  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Keep the originals in an acid free container away from direct light. Make copies to display and "restore."

Good idea on restoring a copy, Tony. They are good pics as well as part of history and I'm leery of giving the original to someone.

In ten years (or less) when you compare your displayed photos to the originals, you can make make some brand new copies. Think of them like negatives, because the actual negatives may no longer exist, and they sure don't have Howard's signature if they do.

Another option is to scan them into a computer, with a high resolution scanner (or have somebody else do it for you), then "restore" it electronically, using any one of several programs. Then print it out on photo paper. Works quite well.
