The Used Bow and My Empty Wallet
« on: December 01, 2007, 06:39:00 PM »
Ahh....More symptoms of "The Sickness".  I've got a few thousand dollars worth of custom bows laying around.  Pretty darn nice bows at that.

Last year, I ran across a 66" 66#  Bighorn Ramhunter for about $250.  "Why not?", I thought, so I  bought it.  Before I knew it, I couldn't put the thing down. My customs were gathering dust.

Fast forward to 2007.  Year wait on a Shrew.  No problem, should work out great.  Called Ron and placed an order.  Long about May, Shedhunter has a used PSR for sale.  Always wanted one.  Cost about as much as a custom, but quite a bit less than a new one, and since I had a good 10 months to go for the Shrew, well....  Great bow.  Shot it all summer while the others gathered dust.

Got to thinking I might like to get a Widow longbow.  Since I was thinking about longbows, I picked up the ol' Ramhunter for a few shots.  Uhhh Ohhh.  Can't put it down again.  Something about it just says, "I'm the One!".  All the others are gathering dust again.

Now I'm a couple months out from the Shrew. Can't wait for the Shrew, but then again, the Ramhunter, about the cheapest bow I've ever bought, just won't let me go.  I'm destined for therapy.

Tim, I have gone thru over 100 bows in the last 7-8 years. I have finanlly founf the design I shoot best and that is a RER Arroyo and Widow TF. The very forward handle with a high wrist full grip works best for me. Shawn

I hear ya' Shawn.  I like the forward handle on my longbows too.  My favorite has always been the JD Berry Taipan.  The forward handle is why I ordered the Shrew.  I sure do like that ol' Ramhunter though!!

Ain't it wunnerful?  :bigsmyl:

If'n I had more money I would have more bows, so I'm guess I'm  better off poor 'cause the basement would be getting fuller by the minute!  Heck, the wife wouldn't even care as long as I took her out in the bassboat!

Holy crap guys - I'm still shooting the same old DH Hunter I found used like 15 years ago.  I'm not getting anywhere near you lot, lest the sickness rub off.  :-D
