Kota Bows Rock!!!
« on: December 01, 2007, 11:17:00 PM »
We are having an ice storm in Iowa today.  By noon my husband had cabin fever and packed up our family for a "fun" drive to our local Scheels store.  We walk into the archery shop to find 2 new Kota bows.  Man are they pretty.  We just had to take them for a spin Scheel's little 10 yard range.  These bows make you remember why trad bows are soooooo much fun.  The compound guys just stood around watching while we played.  I think they wanted to play too, but they didn't.  Kota bows shoot so fast and acurate.  Majorly forgiving and quiet.  And they cost $500.  I do not think there is another custom bow at this price and this quality.  My husband soon reminded me that he already got me a Christmas present and we should head home.  Yeah, he already has a Kota Prairie Fire.  Oh well, he shares.  Need to save my $$$ before these bows go up in price.  I think they are worth way more than Tim charges.
Boy did I have fun.  Maybe we can go to Scheels again tomorrow.

Yep, I have a "Badlands" that was gifted to me to learn on, and now that I'm shooting a heavier bow, my wife is shooting the "Kota". Like you said, Kate, fast, acurate, and very easy to shoot.

Kelly40-It was the DesMoines store.

Basic Instinct-Yes I have shot the kill-um.  I realy liked it.  I am a longbow shooter, so I liked the PF better.  If I where to go recurve, I would not hesitate to get the kill-um.  It is a looker and was quiet and fast.

I shoot the Kota kill-um and it has by far been my favorite bow for looks and performance. Very sweet shooting bow and very fast.

I'm just about to get serious with my Kota Kill-um for the upcoming spring turkey season.  I had been shooting my Martin Savannah all spring and summer and since this was my first year shooting traditional I didn't want to complicate things by shooting two.  Just wanted to keep getting better with the current longbow.

This spring will be a different story as the Kota is going to get put through the paces.  I have a Bacote handle with Birdseye limbs and I love it.  #46 @ 29.5" and I shot it very well in the limited times I did shoot it last fall.

I can't believe how much smoother it was than my longbow.  It should be a very fun turkey season this spring.

Oh and your right they are not priced bad at all I got my delivered for $462.  Tim is a great guy to deal with and I will be getting another soon as long as I keep working all this overtime.

Josh-Tim makes a pretty bow, but I think the eyes on your little boy out shine that Kota.

I've shot the Prairie Nomad 3pc longbow and the Prairie Savage 3pc recurve he used to make.  I have also shot an older recurve before he named them.  All excellent shooters and great craftsmanship.  I still the the Prairie Nomad.  I've never tried any of his one piece bows.

I have a Killum that I traded for back in September. It has not been my hunting bow and therefore has not been shot as much. It draws and shoots smoothly and is quick enough. The only problem I have had with it is that it is not as center-cut as I like and I had to put alot of weight on my carbons to get them to fly good. This is not a bad thing, but I would like to shoot a little bit lighter arrow from this bow. Overall, it is quite a looker and shooter.

Thanks...he can be a little devil at times though.  I'm waiting for the day when he grows into the bow he's hanging onto.

Taking my Grandmother to the mall today.  Normaly I would dread it, but no today.  Hope Scheels still has that Kota.  What a nice way to pass the time.
pseman-That is funny about your arrow flight.  That is one reason I love Kota bows.  It seems that no matter what I shoot, they fly good.  My other bows are soo touchy if the arrows and string are not matched up perfect.  With my husband's Kota I can shoot anything in the box and hit what I am looking at.  The arrows Scheels gave me to shoot are spined 85# and are missing 1/2 of their fletching.  The bow was 53#@28, so I was pulling around 38#.  I still hit my spot w/ min. fishtail.  But, I have never tried carbons.  Maybe that is the difference.  Great bows.
