limb twist
« on: May 15, 2008, 11:01:00 AM »
I picked up a Bronco for my boy(epay)....has a mean twist to the upper limb that I just cant get out. I have held it under hot water, goes back every time. I have put enough torque on this limb you would think it would snap, still goes back. Am I just not getting it hot enough or is it a lost cause? I can string it and gently draw it without the limb twisting on around, I'll get a pic in a minute.

Are you working on it while the bow is braced up ? If not try straightening it while its strung...if it's strung try it unstrung.Another thought is...while straightening the bow you should if possible draw the bow inbetween straightenings. You know stra.a little draw it 5-10 times only 20 inches if possible. That does help alot flexing the limbs.Keep us posted, bowdoc

I have tried it strung, unstrung....when it seems to straighten a little, flexing it sends it back into its twist. I even strung it backwards and wrapped the string in such a way that the string held it straight, and left it on the wall for a few days only to have the twist return immediately when strung. It seems to have quite the memory.

Well one other thought,is the no string groove models may have been worse then the ones with....Keep tring for two more days and see how it goes.....I would also maybe clamp the handle section into a padded vise. Not to tight but tight enough I could get a good twist on those limbs unstrung to prevent eye loss of course. But try a couple more days before you do anything rash OK ????? bowdoc
