« on: May 19, 2008, 09:07:00 PM »
Was searching around after I read the post about the Pearson Marauder TD and came upon another item listed by a different seller.

This one is listed as a 1962 St. Charles suede back quiver.  Can be yours for a buy it now price for $750

Just had to share.

As Jack mentioned. It's worth what someone will pay....But I will tell you this....That quiver is not as rare as he has it listed.I sold two of the very same models last summer.Man I wish I would have gotten 750.00 out of them.I don't mind shareing the prices I got with you guy's.....185.00 for the better of the two and 140.00 for the other.P&Y don't have one because they are not stupid enough to pay that kinda of price for an item....He wants more then I got for both of the ones I had....Guess I should have held off until this summer to sell huh???? bowdoc

There are three different models of the St. Charles that I know of.

The original had a covering made of brushed Elk skin.  The next generation was slik leather (cowhide?).  The final version had a vynel top that looked like teather.  Now as collector's value goe, I think you can guess which is themost valuable and which is the least.

I had an original that I bought in 1962.  Before I gfot into collecting, it was in my attic for years.  we built a new house, and I have not seen it since.  Vanished.  My son bought my old house and I told him to keep an eye open for it.

I just bought a Slick leather version about three monts ago from e8ay.  I think I paid about $85.00 including shipping.  I feel I got a good price.

Like bows, a lot obout a quivers value depends on condition.  I would rate this one about an 8.

I wantedto get anoter elk hide model, but the bids just kept getting past what I wanted to pay.  I ould go $100.00 for one in decent shape, but no more.  Is it worth more than $100.00?  Not to me.  My hope is that one day  I will open a box from our five year old move, and there it will be.  That would be like finding a pristine dogleg in a pawn shop for $25.00.  It happens, but not often enough to even count.

He does a good job quoting Wade, still too rich for my blood but it looks like a nice quiver.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

The thing I found odd about the posting is that it quotes some information from Wade about the TWO different versions of the earlier suede models. One is the earlier, rarer, more valuable one being the one WITHOUT the three rivets and WITH the double row of stitching and then the other more common suede version which is the one for sale. But then it's priced like it's the rare version.I don't get the reasoning behind that.Gives the information to distinguish the two then prices it as if it's the "rare" one.Anyone else see this?

I have a feeling that if you send five or six hundred dollars to Glenn St. Charles today he will cobble together $20 worth of leather into a real collectible.

For $800, he will probably fill it with arrows and include an autographed book.

Wait until he lists the rare one !!!!!!!!! For 2,000.00 I will take your quiver whatever it may be to Glenn and ask him to sign it for you.Plus I will buy him dinner with your money after he signs the quiver....but as a bonus I will have my wife take a picture of me and Glenn while he signs your quiver( you do not get a copy). Then for 500.00 more I will send your quiver back to you signed by Glenn. That is if he will do it.Hey Johnnyboy is this like another broadhead book or is this backed by BASS Pro shop or Bear Archery ? I was just wondering about that when I read the guy's post on wizbay....Who wrote the book ? Wade Phillips ? Wow thats purty cool....But I know where there is a couple Bear Archery quivers I bet ai'nt in no book.....bowdoc

Bowdoc,I think Wade is doing a book on Bear quivers so he is doing the research I imagine.I got me one very cool Bear Nimrod quiver, still in the original box from the 1950's.The quiver is made with black and white leather.Ain't never seen one of those in no book.Pretty cool.Hey bowdoc, you comin' to Compton with the St. Charles guys? If so,I'll be there and would love to meet you in person. JR

Hey bowdoc, this is the 1964 model and it is kinda' what you have in mind?
This quiver signed by Glenn has the moxie that only the big guy can bring.

Unfortunately I was not there personally for the signing, Jay was kind enough to handle that.
Mr. St. Charles has been very generous with his penmanship for years.

Well Don I wish the bag were a Bear........it would be something without equal. The only person I know for sure who has the complete package including the correct bag is Wade.
In my case, I'll have you know that's a genuine 'nike' possibles bag! LOL!!
There is a pic in Billets to Bows of Glenn getting ready to butcher a moose, I think it was, he is wearing the quiver.
I have given it a go but opted for a bow quiver instead. The bow quiver does not hold nearly as many arrows that back quiver does.

OK Bjorn, you showed me yours, now I guess I gotta show you mine ..... I though mine was a '61, but is it? If not, what do you look at to tell the difference?

Sorry for the not-so-good quality, this is an insurance photo.

Al that's a beauty-it made me quiver! LOL!
What about this one?

Forget the year of this one-maybe '56. Wore it a few times too-finding the real corduroy 'hat' for the nimrods is a real challenge.

Very cool. Well, you got me again...     :clapper:    You can see that I'm missing a couple of things for it. I didn't know I had a virtual Bear Museum right next door to me.

What about the year of my St.Charles job?

Well, it sure looks like mine; but bowdoc may be able to tell some differences.
Perhaps we could get together, do some quivering and you can help me with some string questions too?
I hope we don't both get banned for thread hogging!

Wow guys, those quivers are awesome!!!! Thanks for sharing.

This addiction takes so many paths doesnt it.  There's just no end.

So which one is the rarest?  The one you posted Bjorn or the suede leather one like in Wade's description on fleabay?
