1952 Bear Recurves ???
« on: August 08, 2008, 04:38:00 PM »
Was Bear Making any Recurves in 1952?
If so, does anyone have one for sale?
It is the year I was born and would like to own one just for sentimental reasons.
Thanks guys.
Regards, Bert.  :bigsmyl:

Yes.

????

I believe Bear began making recurves in 1949 with the Grizzly and in 1950 came his top of the line Kodiak. Finding one from 1952 can be done.

I was also made in 1952 and have so many stress lines that I should be a wall hanger.

Tony-LOL!!
Bear made static recurves till 1954, with the Kodiak ll, they intro'd a working recurve.
Glenn St. Charles made several hundred T Birds in 1953-they were working recurves.
Glenn quit making his own bows and became a rep for Bear in 1953. Curiously Bear introduced their recurve the following year.

Bear made a Kodiak and a Grizzly in 1952 both recurve bows with built up brush guard tips. They also made a Polar and a Cub that were reflex bows in 52. Those were the four bows in the Bear catalog in 1952. All can be found if you watch that auction site.

Here you go!I've narrowed this one down as being built somewhere from mid '51 to mid '53.From what i've learned the aluminum laminations stopped in mid '51 and the small running bear logo stopped in mid '53.This bow has no aluminum and a small logo.I'll call it a 1952 for now.
