i bought my first bear and the cool part was i was on a bear hunt'n trip...  its kodiak  hunter 50#er 60"er .it would score 10 out of 10 if someone hadnt put two small hole on the belly over the window for a sight. where do i research this bow 1953 canada is under the bear sticker. and it shoots great

You can try this site, but the best way is to try and post a picture or two and someone here will be along to help you out shortly.  A serial number will often but not always help.

The Kodiak hunter was introduced mid year 1967 and the 67 was a 58" bow.In 68 it became a 60" bow and stayed that way  Stabilizer insert was added in 1970 or 71.. 68 and 69 can be confirmed with ser # starting with 8 or 9. 72 I believe was the start of the green maple and the raised button. There are a few color variations after that with stripe colors and overlay colors but I am guessing beyond that point

thankyou..the serial number is 9t4007 any info is a good start trha limbs are greenthe bear coin is bronze and pretty much flush with the riser thanks again

It is a 1969 model.  From '65 through '69, the first digit is the year it was made.

the 1953 date is the canadian patent date that appears on all Bear recurves.  Ya go a good'un
