MARTIN ARCHERY TAKEDOWN PARTS

Here is my dilema. I have a mint unused takedown recurve. 68" 37#. The riser is 23 inches long and has silver metalflake paint and a slip on Mother of pearl looking grip. There is a Martin Archery decal on the riser. The riser has the two ball bearings per limb like the Hatfield takedowns had. I am missing one of the four bearings. The limbs are white and the only markings are the poundage, length and serial#. The limbs were packaged up with a sticker on the package that said Cougar III. The limbs look Howatt all the way with the wood overlays both sides. I spoke to the nice people at martin and they told me there was no such thing as a cougar III takedown recurve. They say the cougar III was a compound. I am also missing the limb bolts and washers. Anyone have these parts by chance or know of this bow from years ago.

Take a micrometer and mike the ball bearing, you can order one from "McMaster-Carr" they sell on line. You might have to buy several but they are cheep enough. Your bolt should be a standard SAE thread any store that specializes in nuts and bolts will be able to fix that problem same with warshers.

Anyone have an old Martin cougar compound that is junk. The bearings are in there and the limb bolts will work also.

Sounds to me like somebody took the riser from A Cougar III Compound, and married it up with a set of recurve limbs.

If that is the case, it wil lbe impossible to find official parts.  Your best bet is to improvise like aromakr suggested.

Once you get 'er done, you will have a unique, one of a kind trad bow.

Also, talk to the "nice people at Martin" and ask them ifthe Cougar III compound hadthose ball bearings.  If so, see if you can get somefrom them.

The limbs are definetely Howatt, no mistaking those wood overlays on the tips.The riser does look just like the cougar III compound risers and same length also. The odd part is both the limbs and riser were wrapped up unused and had stickers on both packages that said cougar III 37# The limbs are marked 37# so it was meant to be together with this riser. It came from a deceased Martin dealer from years ago. Larry the phone # you emailed says not in service.

I've got one of the old Martin takedown bows with the ball bearing riser. I believe it was made off of a Warthog compound riser. Not sure what all they used. CKruse
