Original Schafer Silvertip....what's it worth?
« on: October 05, 2008, 02:34:00 PM »
Original Schafer recurve built in 1991-1992. Left hand, 2 sets of black glass limbs...60# @26", 70# @ 26"....used, but in good condition. Anyone have an opinion on the value?

It is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. Put it on the auction site with a reserve and see what you get or decide what you want for it and put it on the TG classifieds.

Danny....I'm considering buying it, not selling it....i know it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay....just looking for a ballpark figure.

Billy,

It is really hard to say what something is worth. Especially bows. If you look or research on closed auctions on that auction site you may come up with a ball park figure. One day one might sell for x amount of dollars and another day another price. With two sets of limbs I would say between $400 and $700 as a conservative starting point depending on the shape it is in. Just my two cents.

a few months back, i paid 500. for an original, that was the cheapest price so far. most bows i saw were anywhere from 500. for damaged bows to 1400. for a mint one.i would think around 700. with two sets of limbs and being a lefty even rarer to find. good luck

I wish we had a little blue book lake NADA for used cars, but we don't.

Bottem line is not what I think it is worth, becasue thaat would be what it is worth to me.

You need to figure out what it is worth to you.

As a general rule, lefties go cheaper than righties...simply less demand.

Right now the entire recurve market is soft.  Bows are not bringing what they brough 5 yrs ago.  It tends to run with the economy.

I would make the guy a low ball offer and see where it goes.

Do you know how much he is asking, or wanting for it?

One thing to keep in mind is that a bow to a guy is just like his used car...he's gonna tend to think it is worth more than it is.
