Stinken bootleggers should be all....
« on: December 23, 2008, 05:23:00 PM »
shot dead.I just made a swap with this dude for a Grousehaven patch. That thing is no way an original Grousehaven patch. It is one of those that were made in the last year or so by somedickweed(Not Bear Archery) it smells like a laundry mat.I would like to shove that patch right up the guy's noise.Pisses me off that these guy's are bootlegging everything from Grousehaven patches to tapes CD's promo pics of Fred and Cd copies of the 33 speed album with Fred and Curt Gowdey and who knows what all else.I would like to see Escalade sue the hell out of them and put a stop to it.That stuff has distoried collecting as we know it.Fred would roll over in his grave thinking someone was bootlegging items just to make a couple bucks off his name.I say lets kill em all.I'am going to make a call to Escalade and see if I can help them sue those jerks..bowdoc

Don,

It sounds like you're still not able to get out of the house and work on those bows.   :knothead:

Gee Doc, I think you need to get outside and soon! Riled up tight today I see, just read your post on the broadhead rant, leave it to you guys to make the OP bail on his own rant, LOL!

The fact is these scumbags know they can make money off the legacy of Fred Bear, and anyone else with celebrity status for that matter. Sorry you got burned, didn't figure you to get taken since you know a whole lot about Bear archery.

Oh yeah guy's still stuck indoors and it gave me some time to see whats been going on on some other sights.
I always wanted a Grousehaven patch for my collection. The guy offerd it to me in trade and I said that would be fine.I returned the patch.I don't mind so much about the repro stuff. But some guy's bought stuff off ge-bay and they did know it was a fake. The sellers are sometimes not real clear as to if its a repro or an original.Or some unsupecting person buy's it and then resells the item.Never says a word about it not being an original.I used to sell the original bootlegged shirts myself.I never lead anyone to believe the shirt or myself had anything to do with Bear Archery and I told them up front the shirts were bootlegged.I don't even want to get into the pictures of Fred that have been reprinted a couple hundred times.Holy balls the promo pictures of Fred have been reprinted so many time you don't know what you are getting. It may be a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy...yeah you guy's see where this is going...bowdoc

Somewhere in the dungeon, I have an original 33 RPM of the Fred and Curt record.  I don't know what shape it is in having been stored al lthese years, and I don't even have a record player anymore.

Maybe I can nab a bootleg CD.

I am with you Doc.. Ought to put the "Scotch Hobbles" on um for sure.
I let my trigger finger make a bad deal on a Catalog.. What a piece of crap.
If it's anything less than Original (And that includes Strike plates etc..) Be up front, nothing wrong with a good repro.
All of my old Kodiaks have repro plates and rests on them, the originals have been stored for safe keeping.
Actually I think this bootlegging is why we have copyright laws however this stuff probably wasn't protected so it's fair game for the creeps, and it' "Buyer beware"

I'am with you on the copy right laws.I don't think many item were protected even in the begaining.Like the repro catalogs there everywhere now.Silk screened tee  shirts catalogs. No one from Bear ever said or did anything about them.I even went as far as to snitch the printer off (Cornwell that ai'nt their name but close)and I was told by Fred Escalade they would look into it.Yeah right they nener did anything about the catalogs..sell outs bowdoc

UMMMM
Help me out??

Its only that they are not being up front about it being a reproduction???

That's what were talking about here right??

Otherwise I just spent some money on having molds made for repro coins, flushed down the toilet.
Or whenever the decals are available, is that going to be a problem??

Just hurry up Kurt!!!!!,  LOL, I have bows with holes in them just waiting for your "Repros"

My rests are "Repros" and I make that very clear, as were Als decals.

To sell something that is original when it isnt is just false advertisement.  I think there's a law against that, and I think that's what the guys have complained about above.

Kurt its the guy's that are NOT saying anything who I was pissed at.The person actually lead me to believe the patch was an original and may have even said something like yeah these are super rare patches.Yes I agree they are super rare..The people who are up front about their products be it for cars or bows whatever are pretty cool in my book. They are hard working folks makeing parts for restoration work. Not a problem. But to tell me the patch was an original and think I would not catch it was kind of an insult to me.Hey I'am waiting on the copper coins too.We just have to tell folks they are not the originals. Then they know,if they choose to not pass that along at some point for resale they have to live with themselves..bd

I don't think anyone is disputing that replications are necessary for us.  There are lots of things where we have no originals available.

Just don't market them as "originals"

Look at the Kadiak bows.  They are replicas of the -59 Kodiaks.  Very decent bows,a nd well thought of.  But how would you feel if you bought one thuinking it was a mint condition '59 Kodiak.   Can you spell  R I P O F F !!

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind having a KADIAK.
