What type of bows did the ancient Israelites use?  Design, wood type, arrows?

King David wrote something about being able to bend a bow of bronze. I'd like to know the answer to your question, too, as it is part of my ancestory heritage.

Actually, come to think of it, and purely as speculation, I would guess there would have been a couple of types, and these based on what the Egyptians were using (as there was probably a strong Egyptian influence due to the period of slavery in Egypt). I know it's based on a Wilbur Smith book (my theory), but he does do his research. There might've been composite recurve bows, which took quite some making, as well as simpler, lighter, but more easily-produced longbows.

But I'd love someone who actually knows more about this stuff to set me straight.

Wilbur Smith? I never thought I would see his name mentioned on TradGang.  He's my favorite, takes you on a major ride everytime.

I saw a History channel show that had some pics,it was more about the Egyptian chariot than the bows,
They only showed the shape from pictures, big siyah tips, almost a horse bow design.
Don't know if its what the Israelites used though.
Seems like most stories have them facing predators with slings and sticks, wonder how wealthy you had to be to have bow and arrows during that time?

I'll bet that bowyers back then had to have the biblical "patience of Job".
