BROWNING Serpentine B/heads - Value?
« on: April 11, 2009, 09:26:00 AM »
A friend came up with a package of six new (old) Browning Serpentine heads plus one other new head, and he would like to sell them but would like to know a fair price to ask. Any ideas?

They go for $7 to $10 bucks on the auction site. More for the more rare models, $20 or so.

Shep - There are 8 Browning Serpentines pictured on page B-54 and B-55 of "Broadheads 1871-1971 Identification and Rarity Guide, 2nd Edition". The 4 common models are pretty easy to find, but the 4 rarest models will go for a lot more than you stated.

Snufer - Likely you have the more common heads, but without seeing a photograph, it would be impossible to tell.

Anyone have an extra one of Wade's books to sell or trade?

The Second Edition is sold out. I have a used First Edition somewhere that I haven't seen for a few years. I'd trade if off pretty easy. It has over 1,300 heads as opposed to the Second Edition that has over 2,000 heads. If you are not a serious collector, a First Edition might work for you.

Jeff, There a lots of other slight variations besides the 8 mentioned earlier.

Here are some of the variations of the Serpentines. The two to the left are made from two parts, separate blades and ferrules. The others are made from two identical pieces of formed metal.
