why are those broadheads hard to find or was that way to high for the arrow it self with the head...

I believe the auction was for one arrow and he had two other different arrows in two other auctions. At least that's how I read it.

I would say if you didn't have one in your collection that was a good price for one of the all time top ten classics. But that's just my opinion.   :saywhat:     ;)cir.1928 might be why there not many out there.

E.F. Pope Yorkshire

The 1928 E.F. Pope Yorkshire Broadhead is one the Top Ten All Time Classic Broadheads. In 2004, when the book "Broadheads 1871-1971 Identification and Rarity Guide, Second Edition" was printed, the published value of this head was A-, which is $1,500.00.

In 2004, only 5 of the E.F. Pope heads were known to be in collections.

In late February 2008, an E.F. Pope on an arrow was listed on auction and sold for $1,675.00 on March 4, 2008 at 14:34:17 PST.

The $1,675 E.F. Pope was 111% of the 2004 published value of $1,500.

At $861 this one would have to be considered a real bargain if compared to the one that sold a little over a year ago for nearly twice as much... Of course you have to consider that even though the one for $861 was still pretty much intact, if it would have still had all of the original finish on the ferrule and no rust on the blade, it could have sold for more.

Considering some heads have sold for over 500% of their published value, this one seems to be even more of a bargain.

Less than two months ago, on February 25, 2009 at 06:44:36 PM PST a Bitzenburger Semi Barbed, Str Edge in good condition with about 80% of its original paint, sold in auction 270346854596 for $2,501.00.

That price was 500% of it's 2004 published value of $500...

This just illustrates, that not all prices have gone down in the past year...

$861 seems like a good price to me.
