black widow
« on: April 23, 2009, 07:29:00 AM »
had this posted on the pow wow section but thought i'd try here. here's the story. just bought a black widow serial #26319 60'' # 40 @28'' grip #1 called bw to find info. on it said it was shipped june of 1970 and model was h-8 did a web search and nothing comes up,went to the widow wall and tried to register but kept getting a error note. the bow has not arrived yet and can't post pics. on my computer, but would text some to a cell# if you would like to see it. any help identifying this would help, not even sure the model is right. thanks, rich in pa.

Hi Richard the model number h-8 does not show in any of my 1970 Black Widow catalog's.Would it be possible that its a different model number ? 1970 Wilson Bros built 2,479 total bows. The 60" models I have in the cats. are H325 HS60 suggested brace height HS60 - 7 3/8 to 8 1/8 H325 8 1/8 to 8 7/8...bd

bowdoc, that's what black widow said it was,but like i said they didn't have much info. on it other than the ship date, could it be a bow made under the wilson bros. name? or maybe one that was discontinued? this one has really got me stumped, but just could not pass up the great deal i got on it.well who knows someone might have info. on it out there somewhere. thanks, rich in pa.

well still wasn't able to find anything about the widow i just got,but friday morning repaired the stress lines and redone the whole bow, went over the whole thing with 00 steel wool and a new finish. put loc-tite on the lines but they are still visible even after light sanding and going by what bowdoc said in his restoration thread, but my mind is alittle at ease not knowing there glued up.

Rich, if you cannot post your photos of the bow email them to me, I will take a look at them for you. I hope that you have a good one of the serial number area.

Rich I double checked the pics and I do not know where they came up with the H-8 number.I believe your bow may be an HS60 length 60" brown tone hardwood handle section.Sold for 79.50 new in 1970 and those are just super shooters.bowdoc
