Saw something different today.
« on: January 28, 2007, 11:07:00 PM »
For me at least.

I went bowhunting this morning. (Probably my last for the year). I took a freind of mine to my dads's place whice is a great spot. He saw five but they offered no shots. It was cold and snowing and I was about 300 yards from hin in a stand.

At first light I saw something move across a shooting lane in front of me. I thought it was a small deer. Then an hour or so later I see movement in the direction I saw it go. Out a coyote comes. I raise up and turn he stops at 15 yards as I start to draw. And busts me. He takes off and circles away from me.

This is the first time I've seen one while hunting an he was within range. Had I only been standing up. He was amazingly quiet too.

I may have to try hunting for them now that I've seen this one.

I'm thinking once the deer season ends I'll change gears to try to take one. Boy it seemed like a nice big animal. Like I said it looked like a small deer size, of course not as tall. I bet it could have taken a fawn down no problem.

I get after them after deer season closes here end of January, but I take the WSSM instead of my longbow. We're about overrun with them.

In Ohio there is no closed season that I'm aware of. You can even hunt em at night.
