strange wood combo on '66 Kodiak
« on: June 23, 2009, 08:42:00 PM »
I ended up buying this '66 from George Stout and after getting his opinion was curious about anyone elses opinion on the wood.  It's kind of unique, and the wood isn't normal for what I had seen before.

The horn-caps are obviously different woods and it's split down the middle with different woods also.  Just had my curiousity struck to any input!

I've seen a few '66 Kodiaks that look like that, as a matter of fact I have one with one of the "horns" being blonde on the left side.

I just figured ole Fred wanted to get rid of the woods since it was the las Kodiak and the black phenolic beauty was coming out in '67.

I'm not sure but I think this 45# bow is shooting harder than a '76 50# SK I have.  Of course without any formal testing I really don't know, but it sure seems to be throwing those arrows awfully quick.

Thanks again George!!

Looks like someone tried to remove the coin by drilling through from the sight window side.
