Black Widow PSR Short Recurve
«

I am going to order a PSR next week and would like to know if any one has had any trouble shooting the PSR. All my friends shoot PMAs as nice felling as they are I don't shoot any bows with a high palm swell very well. I can shoot almost any bow that has a long bow type grip very well. I broke all the bones in the back of my grip hand a few years ago and I think it has something to do with the grip problems. I know that black widow will let you test drive a bow but my wife would never stand for me paying in full for a bow that isn't the bow I was buying. I just now got her over the " Why can't you just buy a bow from Cabelas" crud. If you own one or have owned one please give me any info that you have on the PSR good or bad.

Capstick, The PSRs are great bows. Unless you are hunting/shooting in tight quarters I would recommend the longest length. Some of the qualities the PMA and PSA offer are reduced string angle on your fingers and increased mass weight. If you like a heavy mass weight bow you might not care for the lighter PSRs.
Something that you might not be aware of is BW is now offering a standard low wrist grip option on the PTF, PMA and PSA models at no additional cost. I'm a low wrist grip fan too and I like it. They received input on the design from some great target and hunting archers including Rod Jenkins.

I have owned and shot several. The grip makes a big big difference. Get the one that is comfortable for you.

capstick I have a 56 inch PSR and i love it I have very small hands and it works great for me, on most bow's the grip doe's not fit my hand at all, went to the short PSR because IMO shoot's better out of a tree stand.

Be careful though, the psr is still made to shoot with a "throat grip", not a full heel. I thought it would be tillered and made to shoot like a longbow, but even their longbows are tillered for a throat grip, so you may want to buy used or test drive. This is straight from Ken Beck at the Compton shoot. They do shoot good though, and I got mine quieter than their longbow.

sorry, also of note: the longer ones are more efficient than the shorter ones, so you will gain performance with the longer psr vs a shorter one.

I have a 60" PSR (78#@28")and I love it. If you have recurves and longbows, you need to add this baby to your collection. To me, it's a mixture of both styles.

i ordered a 56" psr and i should get it this upcoming week. i have to call Monday to see if we are still on schedule....can't wait!
i am in now way an authority on recurve bows!
i shoot a bear magnum now...super short. i like the longbow look and want to stay short as possible. i am a hunter. don't care too much about steadiness, smoothness and so forth. just want to put the arrow where it counts!

Denny, that's good news. I love the "Widders" but need a low-wrist grip. Do they have any in their "Test drive" program?

John, They are making some for the test drive fleet right now. Toby said they wanted to have some to bring to Kalamazoo.
