1968 Super Kodiak

Can anyone tell me roughly what a 1968 Super Kodiak in mint original conditon is worth?

I'm no expert, but nice, clean ones in good shooting/hunting weights of 45-65# and without holes, twists or major flaws go $300-400 IMO.

If the same bow is mint, $450 and up.

Pretty mint 69 just ended in "the auction" for 370 that had been up over a week.

Ive seen two "shooters" sell for 175 without twists and only some stress lines and a few scratches.

It gets hairy trying to say what "value" something has IMHO.

Always depends on who happens to be looking and how deep their pockets are too.

As for the one on the auction site, I would say it was NOT pretty mint based upon the description by the seller..." has a few stress lines, finish has some scratches,"...so for $370 plus the shipping, one gets a clean shooter (but too light weight for me to be too interested at 43#).

Your $175 shooters you saw fits that auction item I believe, but I have missed bows like that.  I think you could make a little profit ($200 or so) by picking up similar items as evidenced by the auction results.

I would easily pay $450 for a "MINT" 68/69 SK for one around 50#...but that means all original, like new, and without stress lines or scratches.  Bows fitting that description are rare to find on the sale market.

You're right Im sure. I was going by what I saw in the photos on that auction and not what he said. The few marks on that bow were as few and light as I've seen in one for sale.

Mint as like right out of the box, Ive yet to see. That one was as good as Ive ever seen and better than the one that sold before it at 360.

Heck, any better and Id be terrified to shoot it knowing they end UP with stress lines and with scratches too knowing me.

Not in the income bracket to collect for collecting sake.

As for weight. You're right again, 50 would be wanted by more than the 43 but IM OLD, lol.  43-48 was 90 percent of what I've seen around so what I bought (so far). Interesting how the "desired average weight" has creeped up over the years.

This is my first Super K and it's a shooter, enough that Id like another. I just thought that the price on that one was about right so again, we agree.....just depends on who's looking.

A guy that has a full line up but the one for sale will pay out the nose for one. A guy like me that wants a nice hunter will be left holding his microsoft mouse, LOL.

Whoever is selling and buying. Wish ya luck you find a middle ground that works for both.

I have around $300.00 in my '69 plus a Bowdoc refinish and feel like it was a reasonable investment. The weights I prefer don't show up every day and I bought this a few months after a 69# 1968 blew up on me. I paid $475.00 for a mint '69 for my son that was a pretty common 48# but in excellant condition...and it was for my kid, LOL.   Grant

The bow I was looking to buy was not on this site. The seller listed as 1968 Kodiak. I called him and as luck would have it, it was a 68 kodiak hunter. DANG!!!!! But thank you for all the replies. You can still send me another check if you want Jashu! LOL
