I don't know where to start but I just want to say Thank You, to all that post here. This year I set out to try my hand at using Trad gear and ended up finding a great hobby to fill in some occasional spare time with.
After finding this forum, it has be a very enjoyable experience. This is my second attempt at a restoration on a Bear bow I re-worked a 59 Kodiak Special 64". But this post is about a 59 Grizzly I ran across. It had alot of stress lines,Tips chipped and seperating,dings, scratches,and even someone had engraved a serial number of some sorts on the bottom thrid of the lower limb. the bow was pretty well negelected and appeared to have seen it better days.
Fortunately will all the good people that post here and sharing of knowledge,experience,and materials this bow breaths new life.

In an earlier post it was mention how Bear painted the limbs on occasion to cover up what was blemishes in the fiberglass. during the finish removal process I began to see the green flakes of paint coming off on the face of both upper and lower limbs, and I could see why there were white streaks or spots all through the glass? Simon had mentioned the backside of his had similar issues.
So I set out to try and find a color match ( which could probably still use some fine tuning ). I figured while I was at it I would find a color match for both sides, so if it looks correct, maybe someone else can use the paint mix formula. I replaced the tips and they are strong, but only later did I see I rounded the bottom of them, where they should be more straight across the bow. So much to learn doing this, but it fun! enough writing and time to post some pixs.
