Help with a Bear Cub
« on: February 03, 2010, 05:06:00 PM »
I need a little help from you Bear experts out there. I recently was given a Bear Cub, filthy, stained dark and cruddy- like it had been buried under the outhouse.I cleaned it up a little, put a string on it and man does it shoot nice! So... I peeled off what was left of the leather grip, scraped and sanded off what was left of the finish and lo and behold, not a dent, ding or even a hint of a stress crack. 4 or 5 coats of Tru-Oil and it is looking really good and I'm ready to do the new leather grip. Now, my first question is: does anybody have new decals, as the originals were toast? And, can you guys pinpoint the year of manufacture, sorry I can't post pics. Serial # is 7K65 60" 40# single shelf. Dark green glass back, pale green belly. I never knew what nice little bows these were! Thanks for any info you can share.   Paul
