Taking Latch Lock off Bear TD
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:07:00 AM »
I have Bear C MAg that needs some TLC.

Got the medallion out, the latches off. I can't see how to get the latch lock off. It looks like there is a pin holding it on but I can't really get in to push it out. The Spring also does not want to come off.

 Any tips.

thanks dave

Dave, if you look real close on the out side of the riser there is a very small hole you have to get a punch that is small and long enought to go all the way to the latch pin and gently drive the pin through the rib, BE very carefull the sides of the rib is very thin and will break if you are not Carefull, the pin will come out the other side from where your punch is.
never had a problem with the spring, just give it a little tug and it should come out.
    Hope this helps     Harold

Thanks, I see the hole now.  It is only on one side, didn't see it because I was looking on the other side.  :)

Got the pins out. Now to strip the paint and rough the surface for primer and paint.
